As promised in his previous pack release, Wobbling Pixels just posted a profile pack dedicated to 1080p and 1440p profiles. These are designed for the lower-cost RetroTINK 6x, however they’ll also work with the 4K RetroTINK’s as well. A common reason to run a 4K TINK in 1080p is streaming, but the most common for me personally is when using BFI, as you need to drop the resolution lower than 4K to access 120Hz and up. Since these profiles are specifically designed to run in those lower resolutions, you can output in modes like 1440p120 and even 1080p180/1080p240 with the same pixel-perfection as the 4K profiles. This pack also includes some profiles that integrate console-specific CRT-blur, providing an image that’s really close to what you’d see on an actual CRT. More info and instructions below the links:

This is obviously exciting news for RT6x power users, as you now have access to the same precision profiles as the 4K’s with no tweaking required. I do think this is equally as helpful for people using the 4K’s in lower resolutions, as this will save a lot of time! Previously, the workflow would be to load a 4K profile, set the output to 1080p or 1440p…then check the scaling modes, mask effects, etc. It wasn’t “hard”, it just took a bit of time. With these, you can just load a profile that matches the resolution you’re targeting and make minimal changes: Custom modelines if using custom BFI rates, change the CRT mask to better match your display’s panel, add any preferred tweaks, then hit save. Basically, if you’re a 6x owner, of a RT4K tinkerer, these are a big deal.
Installing this is the same on the 6x and 4K, but you’ll need to be on the latest firmware and you’ll need the previous release from August 28th first. If you’ve already installed that, you can just extract the update pack to the SD card and overwrite everything (anything overwritten is just duplicates). If you haven’t added the previous pack, first connect your SD card to your PC and search it for “Wobbling Pixels”. Then delete all files and folders found; This should just delete all WP-related stuff, but feel free to back up your SD before deleting, just in case. Then when that’s done, extract the previous pack update (available via the same links), then extract this new 1080p/1440p profile pack and overwrite anything prompted.
As a note, if you have any issues with the 6x CE’s SD card, backup any profiles you’ve customized, format the SD card and extract the full image also included in the same link. That will include the latest firmware and all profile updates; WP has instructions right on the page and the end result is a fresh SD card with all updates included.
As a note, I’ve been using WP’s “SNES & SFC – R4KPRO – CRT – Blend Medium” profile while playing A Link To The Past in 4K on my C4 OLED via the RT4K Pro and I only had to make very minimal tweaks: I set the scaling in the main menu to “Auto Fill Int +” (obviously ;p), changed the mask to RMCG 600TVL with the strength to 7, changed the E-Conserve beam spread to Medium and enabled D93 color conversion for the “original look“. It’s been an incredible experience and anyone who’s looking for a true CRT look should give it, as well as Kuro’s CRT profiles a try and see which looks better on your display. Just remember each panel is different, so my changes might not be the best fit for your display.
With these profiles, I plan on trying the “SNES & SFC 4-3 – Sharp” for 1080p5x @ 120Hz and I’ll try implementing the same changes above. “Auto Fill Int +” and D93 color will definitely work, but I’m interested to see if I’ll prefer a “dense mono” mask like I usually do when dropping to 1080p, or if WP’s profiles look better with something else. Either way, thanks to all the amazing contributors in the RetroTINK scene, the gap between CRT and OLED is getting more narrow each day!

If 3840x1080p isn’t supported by your TV try 1920×1080
or 2560x1440p CRT profiles. - Added additional PS2 sharp profiles for PS1 games
- Added medium sharp profiles for Sega Saturn including
PAL to NTSC profile (corrects aspect ratio with
bad PAL ports). One profile type to cover all resolutions. - Reduced number of Saturn sharp profile types from
three to two. Just two profile types to cycle through
that cover all resolutions - Added PS2 GSM profiles to correct aspect ratio
- Added GBHIF (GameCube) 1080p Fill profiles
- Added profiles for Sega Master System games with
the res. 248×192. Crops border on the left side
of the screen. - Fixed 1080p PSP 3000 mask
- Moved Super Gameboy profiles into SNES folder
- Updated _info.txt file. Every profile folder contains
information about profile types, requirements,
how to use profiles, how to improve image quality, etc.
_info.txt file content is displayed when a profile folder
is accessed on the Retrotink 6x. - New profile banners same as of the Retrotink 4k
